Our Story

About the Mosque

✦ Established 1967 — one of Sheffield's first mosques

Jamiyat Tabligh‑Ul‑Islam Mosque — known locally as Bodmin Street Masjid — was established in 1967, making it one of the first mosques in Sheffield. From its home in Attercliffe, it has served the city's Muslim community for many decades, welcoming generations of families through its doors.

What began in 1967 as a gathering place for early Muslim settlers in Sheffield has grown into a well‑established centre of worship and community life. Throughout that time, the masjid has remained true to its founding purpose: to provide a dignified place of prayer, to pass on Islamic knowledge to the next generation, and to serve the people of Sheffield with compassion.

Today the mosque continues that legacy — hosting daily prayers and Jumu'ah, delivering education through Academia Al Islam, supporting families at times of joy and loss, and building friendships across faiths and communities in our city.
